I am 79 Years Old and 2015 was my first Freedom Festival Role as an Ambassador.
I think I can safely be described as a middle aged man, who would rather not be.
As well as a volunteering qualification, I have gained some brilliant once-in-a-lifetime experiences and lasting friendships and connections.
Volunteering for Freedom has opened my eyes to how large-scale events are run. I love the thrill of a fast-moving event and running around controlling the organised chaos.
Volunteering with Freedom Festival, initially as a Freedom Maker, and now as an Ambassador, has given me, well, freedom!
I love helping people, especially seeing volunteer newbies grow in confidence over the festival and helping visitors to get the most out of the Festival.
Having done over 8 years of volunteering, you get to meet a wide variety of people, as well as the opportunity to engage with various personalities. That’s what I love about it; no day is ever the same.
Volunteering gives me a fantastic insight into how the festival works, allows me to put something meaningful back into our great city and its brilliant fun!
I love volunteering/being a Freedom Ambassador because each opportunity is always different and you always meet new people and I think that is just GREAT!
