Do you want to get involved? Of course you do!
Freedom Festival is delighted to offer a number of participatory opportunities in 2017.
Southpaw Dance Company will create a spectacular mass participation dance and video event especially for Freedom Festival 2017.
RUSH is a celebration of cultural expression and identity, of local lives and daily struggles, with community at its heart. Told through the lens of three local characters, it examines the daily frustrations that move us to effect change, offering dance, music, and the power of vibrant, cultural protest as a voice to express those struggles; a voice firmly rooted in the cultural identity of Hull.
RUSH will be a large-scale, mass participation dance spectacular, featuring a cast of members of the Hull community performing alongside Southpaw’s company dancers, and featuring stunning projections by Novak.
A unique opportunity to work alongside award-winning choreographer and Southpaw Artistic Director, Robby Graham – all ages and abilities absolutely welcome.
The Freedom FEASTival will take place in the Freedom Festival Gardens situated in Queens Gardens on 3rd September as part of a wider programme of outdoor arts, circus, interactive installations and workshops where we will see thousands of people come together in a celebration of people, cultures and community… a carnival of colour and fun.
Throughout the summer Freedom FEASTival will hold events at allotments and farms across the city to grow and harvest vegetables and to cook and prepare recipes for the big event on 3rd September.
We need you!
