presented by Ray Lee

Congregation, Ray Lee.

Each audience member is given a mysterious silver sphere. Emitting strange sounds, it leads you on a journey.

Guided by sound alone, where will your journey take you?

Seemingly possessed of its own mind, the sphere guides you through familiar and unfamiliar terrain. Can you keep the sphere happy by going in the right direction?

In return, the sphere will lead you on a sonic voyage to a final destination where you will encounter a meeting of the spheres, a chiming, pulsing web of electronic sound.

Ray Lee is a sound artist and composer who makes music that moves. Returning to Freedom Festival after presenting Sirens in 2016, his large-scale sound sculptures and performances have been presented all over the world.

Congregation is supported by Without Walls and commissioned by Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Out There Festival, with financial support from Oxford Contemporary Music, Oxford Brookes University and 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space. Congregation is supported by the IN SITU platform, in the frame of the ACT project, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
