Welcome to Hull

Our City

Hull’s triumphant UK City of Culture year showed the power creativity, art and culture can have on a city and its people. As custodians of Hull’s annual award-winning, international arts festival, we believe Freedom Festival provides an ideal introduction to our wonderful maritime city.

Based in the centre of Hull, Freedom Festival transforms the city into a stage for artists and performers from around the globe and home-grown talent.

Hull’s rich heritage can be explored in the city’s 8 museums, from the Maritime Museum to the Old Town’s Museum Quarter featuring the fantastic Streetlife Museum and Wilberforce House, which remembers the role of Hull-born MP William Wilberforce in the abolition of slavery. The cobbled Old Town is also famed for its atmospheric pubs serving up local history with their quality tipples, and don’t forget to find the world’s smallest window on the mysteriously named street Land of Green Ginger.

You can discover more on the Visit Hull and East Yorkshire website.
