Continuing the conversation beyond Freedom Festival, with our Freedom Talks.
We’re passionate about supporting artists to create new work, enabling people to learn new skills and make incredible work that can be accessed by everyone.
Throughout the year, we also run an extensive programme of projects and work closely with other key arts and cultural organisations locally, nationally and abroad.
Our aim is to provide opportunities for artist development through new commissions, we're also passionate about the development of all industries and disciplines and giving students and local people the chance to participate in projects and learn new skills which is why we work closely with the University of Hull, Hull College and local schools.
We are proud to be one of three UK representatives of the IN SITU network, collaborating with 23 other European programmers to nurture artist development and support artists to develop new forms of art in public space.
Postcards from the Edge is a project exploring the concept of identity, place and the human quest for home. Launching on National Writing Day in June, children and young people will be supported through a programme of work that encourages them to explore their own identity and the identity of Hull.
Since 2017, we have been supporting the Hull International Carnival Association to develop their team and organisation to produce the city’s first and only International Carnival.
For Freedom Festival 2018, we worked with Hull College whose catering students provided the catering for staff, artists and the production team for the festival.
We’re not only passionate about supporting local artistic talent, but the development of all industries and disciplines. Since 2013, we have been working with Hull College to provide students of its Technical Theatre Course with industry experience.
Launched in 2018, in partnership with the University of Hull, our Accelerate development programme gives three full-time students the opportunity to join our team as paid interns from July to September to develop their careers in the arts and be part of the team that deliver's Hull's biggest arts festival.
