After a long day of festival shows and experiences, come down to the Festival Club.

On Friday night DJs David Okweisa – Redlocz (Beats Bus records/Full Flava) and DJ Pax Nindi – Harare Dread will be treating us to a funky world music, reggae, afrobeat and global grooves. On Saturday we’ll welcome DJ Marco, presenting a celebration of club music from the Afro-Caribbean diaspora with live musicians from London’s Kinetika Bloco. The perfect combination of Afro dance music with live horns & percussion! 

The Freedom Festival club will deliver a joyful and inclusive atmosphere where all are welcome and where you may bump into artists whose shows you’ve been enjoying during the festival, as this club is the meeting place for all involved with the Freedom Festival, come and dance the night away with us.

DJ Marco (Edinburgh)

Brass player, street performer and DJ extraordinaire, Marcus Britton will be bringing the vibes to this year’s Festival Club! Selecting the freshest brassy/jazz/party tunes, he’ll be throwing in some surprises with live horns & percussion courtesy of guest musicians from London’s Kinetika Bloco.

This is a one-off special for the festival, bringing music and vibes from the street programme into the club and getting the party started in no uncertain terms!

Marcus is Co-Director and Lead Musician at Edinburgh’s Oi Musica - an organisation that uses the music of street bands to bring people & communities together. He has 20+ years' experience as a performer, band leader, educator, composer and arranger, and occasional DJ with a varied vinyl collection and a love of collaboration.

 

Pax Nindi

Crowned the master of African Reggae from the mid-80s, and still alive and kicking, DJ Pax (AKA Harare Dread) plays world music from Roots Reggae, Dub, Afrobeat to Samba, Frevo, Calypso and Soca. He has played in Glastonbury, O2 London, Recife Carnival (Brazil), Tower Bridge, County Hall, Notting Hill Carnival and more.

 

David Redlocz

David Okwesia Redlocz is a seasoned youth worker and a BA Hons Degree holder in Documentary Production and Media Production. He has been a radio presenter on West Hull FM since 2012, hosting his own show called The Full Flava Connection Show. David co-ran the Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance in Hull from 2000 to 2009, showcasing both international acts and local artists. In 2013, he organized his own Full Flava Festival to celebrate the local Urban Music scene.Hull pioneers award Hull City Coincil and just creativity award Arts Council 

 Beyond his radio work and festival organizing, David is a founding member of Beats Bus Records, which has received numerous awards, including The Best Music Tutoring Business in Yorkshire for two consecutive years. He's an experienced tutor in various fields, including Song Writing, DJing, Music, Radio, Film & Video Production. With a passion for creative content creation and social media management, David is committed to nurturing and inspiring creativity in young people and the community. He has an extensive background in youth arts, community work, and has mentored various talents in the entertainment industry. As a recording artist specializing in Afro fusion and Hip hop, he continues to promote and support aspiring artists through his Beats Bus Record Label and Full Flava TV YouTube Channel.
