This talk is part of his work with Hull Museums and the Hull Afro-Caribbean Association. This talk explores some of the several hundred images that Corporal Fred Birden (an avid photographer who was stationed in Sierra Leone during the second half of the Second World War) captured during his railway travels across West Africa. Dr Nick Evans is Senior Lecturer in Diaspora History at the University of Hull.
