Print Shop: RISE [UP]!

Ahead of Freedom Festival 2018, we launched a pop-up art studio in Hull’s Whitefriargate to encourage a collective expression of freedom and empowerment.

Inviting R.M. Sanchez-Camus (Marcelo) to be our Artist in Residence, Marcelo explored the themes of empowerment and Freedom in a fun and friendly environment where anyone could come and take part.

Participants were involved in design and creating their own t-shirts and placards which were worn at the festival – creating a participatory work of art. Over 4,000 t-shirts were created.

Since the festival, Marcelo has gone on to development the project further and has been facilitating workshops all over the U.K.
