Queens Gardens is transformed into a kaleidoscope of colour, the natural world at night.

Lantern Company create beautiful and unusual work of excellent artistic quality which ranges from small scale theatrical experiences to spectacular outdoor shows, from community arts workshops to giant puppets and kinetic processional floats to beautiful sculptural lanterns.
At the heart of their company lies the desire to nurture and promote artistic excellence alongside a commitment to developing sustainable projects, which build skills and raise aspirations in community members, raising confidence, celebrating creativity and promoting social cohesion amongst participants and audiences alike.

About the work

Incredible illuminated plants, insects and wildlife transform Queens Gardens into a kaleidoscope of colour, focusing on the natural world at night.  Visitors can experience a luminous lantern-lit walk through the city centre gardens bringing a new lens on this space of maritime history, which had transitioned from town dock to green space in 1935, animated by a mesmerizing soundscape by film composer Roma Yagnik. Larger than life pollinators, glowing plants and other amazing creatures of the night await to gently inspire and delight audiences young and old.
